Towards Net Zero

BetterPoints is committed to achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2030.

Our aspirations

By implementing our Net Zero Plan, we hope to demonstrate leadership in environmental stewardship and contribute to a sustainable future.

We believe that, through collective efforts, we can make a meaningful impact on combating climate change.

Our challenges

BetterPoints is a fully-remote workforce, spread across the UK – and beyond.

This poses particular challenges, such as measuring individuals’ carbon footprints, managing reliance on energy-intensive cloud services and communication tools, co-ordinating decentralised procurement, and managing waste and recycling.

Our plan

BetterPoints is taking a holistic and collaborative approach to these challenges.

This includes promoting clear sustainability policies, investing in awareness and training, adopting green technologies, deploying technology wisely, fostering partnerships with socially responsible suppliers, and encouraging individual and collective responsibility for achieving net zero goals.

We review and update this plan, our strategies and our policies regularly.

1. Carbon Footprint Assessment

Conduct a carbon footprint assessment to identify and quantify emissions from all operational activities.

Establish a baseline for emissions and regularly update it to track progress.

2. Energy Efficiency

Encourage remote team members to adopt energy-efficient practices at home.

Provide guidelines on optimizing energy usage for electronic devices, lighting, and heating.

3. Out-of-home working

Encourage team members to use cafes and co-working spaces with a published commitment to Net Zero.

4. Renewable Energy

Encourage the use of green energy providers by all team members.

Investigate investments in renewable energy certificates or on-site renewable energy sources.

5. Sustainable Procurement

Prioritize suppliers with strong environmental commitments and sustainable practices.

Train staff in our procurement guidelines and encourage the use of recycled materials and products with lower carbon footprints.

6. Carbon Offsetting

Invest in verified and credible carbon offset projects to compensate for unavoidable emissions.

Encourage team members to participate in carbon offset programs individually.

7. Transportation

Promote sustainable commuting travel such as cycling, walking, and public transport.

Support the use of electric or hybrid vehicles for team members who require transportation for work purposes.

8. Waste Reduction

Encourage the reduction, reuse, and recycling of materials.

Train team members in responsible waste disposal practices.

9. Employee Engagement

Foster a culture of sustainability within the organization through ongoing communication and education.

Recognize and reward team members who actively contribute to carbon reduction efforts.

10. Continuous Improvement

Establish a regular review process to evaluate the effectiveness of the net zero initiatives.

Adjust strategies and set new targets based on technological advancements and evolving best practices.

11. Reporting and Transparency

Publish regular reports on progress towards net zero targets, including both successes and challenges.

Encourage open communication and feedback from team members regarding sustainability initiatives.
