We’re shortlisted for a London Sport Award
The shortlist for the prestigious London Sport Awards has been announced. We’re delighted to have made the list of finalists – we’re one of three organisations up for the Technology for Participation Award.
The judges were looking for technology that successfully and creatively engages Londoners in physical activity – the our app and the gamification features that it offers do just that. BetterPoints National Rewards are available to everyone and we also work in a number of London boroughs – most recently Sutton, Greenwich, Ealing and Hounslow – offering targeted BetterPoints programmes to get people more active and improve health and wellbeing.
There are eight London Sport Award categories, spanning the full range of sport and physical activity, with a focus on grassroots participation. Over 300 nominations were received with 24 projects and organisations making the shortlist. We’re delighted to have been recognised in this way.
The shortlist was announced on BBC Radio London’s Drivetime show on 6 February.
It’s inspiring to hear about the fantastic sport and physical activity going on across London and interesting to hear the presenter and representatives from London Sport discuss barriers to activity and their experience of helping to overcome them.
At BetterPoints we’re passionate about encouraging everyday physical activity and our incentive-based, positively-focused approach is a proven way to move people from inactive to active and encourage them to reach the Government-recommended 150 minutes per week of physical activity.
We’re looking forward to attending the awards evening at Twickenham on 14 March and meeting with organisations and individuals from across the capital who are working to get people more active.
