Random Acts of Kindness Day
Every year, Random Acts of Kindness Day – a day dedicated to promoting kindness and goodwill – is observed today, February 17th. Providing an opportunity for people worldwide to come together and make the world a better place through their thoughtful actions.
Research shows that acts of kindness, no matter how small, can result in lowering stress and anxiety, lifting depressed mood, and improving sleep. We also perhaps never know the extent of the impact our small act of random kindness can have on a person. Building self-worth and confidence, empowering someone, giving them that boost they needed, knowing that someone else cares about them, that is very powerful indeed.
On this day, all BetterPoints app users, in sponsored areas, will be challenged to share their kindness story with a chance of winning a fantastic 10,000 BetterPoints – for the 5 most inspiring kindness stories. Be it buying coffee for a stranger, helping a neighbour, visiting an elderly or lonely person or donating BetterPoints to charity …every act of kindness counts.
We first asked the question in 2020 to our users and received over 1000 responses to the question ‘what have you done today to be kind or connect with others?’
“Smiled at a stranger in queue for doctors.”
“Delivered groceries to family unable to go out. “
“Picked up some medication for two neighbours”
Since then, we have received so many heart moving stories of amazing acts of kindness and look forward to hearing more this February.
So, let’s all create a wave of positivity together. Small actions can make a huge impact in our communities. Remember, being kind doesn’t just brighten someone else’s day – it makes you feel amazing too!
