‘It’s lovely! It’s opened up so many opportunities that I just otherwise wouldn’t have had’

The video below is from the Ebbsfleet Development Corporation (EDC) and is a real testament to the work of BetterPoints clients locally.

The EDC has run its Get Active in Ebbsfleet BetterPoints programme annually since 2018, to encourage physical activity for better health and wellbeing. More than half a million activities were recorded last year alone.

The video tells the story of Lucy, from Northfleet, who has discovered shops, places and events through the programme and from its encouragement to walk more.

‘It definitely motivates you to go out and maybe to do a longer walk than you would have done.

‘I don’t think I would have necessarily wandered around – without the app – to find these shops; and all these events that you just wouldn’t have otherwise known about.’

Lucy moved to Northfleet about four years ago and has tried to immerse herself in community projects, including her local food bank, which she can donate her vouchers to through the app.

Lucy likes the convenience of the programme being on her phone. ’It’s something in your pocket that we all use; it’s useful, and the fact that it rewards you as well…!’
