New Active Travel Programme for Renfrewshire
BetterPoints is powering a new active travel programme for Renfrewshire Council. We have worked with East Renfrewshire Council before and so are delighted to add Renfrewshire Council to our list of clients, and bolster our ongoing partnership with Ansons Consulting as part of the delivery.
The council wants Renfrewshire to be net-zero by 2030. While initiatives such as changes to street lighting and transitioning to electric vehicles have helped them reduce carbon emissions by 55.7% since 2013 (exceeding their target of 36%), they also want to see personal transport playing a larger role in meeting that goal.
Therefore, Renfrewshire Council is taking measures to increase the active travel options available to residents. These includes segregated walking and cycling routes, real-time bus passenger information screens, bus priority changes and pedestrian-friendly road junctions.
To stimulate their use, the council has commissioned Not Far? Leave the Car from BetterPoints. This programme of incentives and challenges will encourage local citizens and council employees to swap their short-distance car journeys for walking, wheeling, cycling and taking public transport.
Not Far? Leave the Car launches across Renfrewshire on Friday 4 March and will run for 12 months.
