‘The app is an incentive to get me out of the house’

‘The app is an incentive to get me out of the house’

‘I now only use the car if the journey is not viable on foot’, says Nindy, who joined South Lanarkshire Council’s Think, Move, Breathe BetterPoints programme.

Nindy had driven everywhere before. ‘I had no hesitation in jumping in the car on a short journey to the shops even when I could walk’, she says.

Nindy discovered Think, Move, Breathe ‘out of the blue’ while scrolling through social media. ‘It was so easy to sign up’, she says. ‘I have been addicted since then.’

‘The app is an incentive to actually get me out the house. If I haven’t done as well on a particular day, it shows me my activity details and then gives me that push to achieve my goals.

‘It’s been great. What started out as a 30 minute walk sometimes ends up with me being out for over two hours after bumping into other people and having a good old natter.

‘It has now become a running joke: if I say “see you in 30 minutes” everyone knows it’ll be more like an hour!’

‘I continue to find so many more shortcuts to different places since walking more and leaving the car behind, which has been great.’
