‘I was using the car far too much, taking my daughter to school every day thinking it was saving time when actually it wasn’t really’, says Alicia from Hampshire, who heard about the A to B Actively programme from a friend.

‘I thought it was a great initiative to get involved in’, she says.

‘I like having goals like how many minutes I have been active, then knowing when I have hit my 150 minutes a week really helps me to know I have done something good for myself.

‘[BetterPoints] encourages me to just walk somewhere if it’s not too far and I have been doing just that.

‘It pushes you to know if you might need to do a bit more exercise, but a gentle reminder rather than “you didn’t do enough”.

‘Walking is definitely a way to help clear your mind and calm yourself.

‘Sometimes it can be a bit stressful to leave the house in the mornings, but the walk to school has calmed us all by giving me and my daughter a bit of time to chat and laugh about things as we walk to school.

‘She actually asks to walk rather than getting in the car now.

‘I have noticed I’m not filling the car up as much which is great as I hate having to go to the fuel station. It’s been a real help.
